Yuki Bhambri stole the limelight on Sunday as India fought back their way to win both reverse singles matches and seal a 3-2 win over New Zealand in the Davis Cup clash in Christchurch.
New Zealand squandered a 2-1 lead in the Asia Oceania group one rubber after losing both matches in straight sets against their highest-ranked Indian singles opponents.
Yuki, who won his first singles match on Friday, claimed a comfortable 6-2, 6-2, 6-3 win over Michael Venus in the tie-decider that lasted one hour and 49 minutes.
Earlier on Sunday, Indian number one Somdev Devvarman levelled the score after beating Marcus Daniell 6-4 6-4 6-4 in an imperious style.
With the win, India have moved into the world group play-offs, while New Zealand will stay in the Asia Oceania zone in 2016.
