Audi India has launched the much-anticipated A3 Cabriolet in an on-going event in Delhi. Priced at INR 44.75 Lacs, the offering is a sporty iteration of the brand's cheapest and most compact offering, the A3 sedan. While the standard A3 is locally assembled, the Cabriolet arrives as a Complete Built Unit (CBU) in the country.
Just like the A3 sedan, its Cabriolet version is also based on the same Volkswagen group’s versatile- MQB platform. The A3 Cabriolet is well differentiated by the sedan model, as the former gets only two doors and a soft top, which is retractable under 18 seconds at a push of a button, while running at speeds up to 50Km/h. Though in terms of similarities, the Cabriolet gets the same bi-xenon headlamps, LED tail lights, front bumper and characteristic body lines of the sedan. The same story continues on the inside too, as the Cabroilet comes with the same theme and layout. On the safety front, the A3 Cabriolet gets active roll over protection along with standard features like ESP, traction control and of course, ABS and airbags.
Audi is offering the A3 Cabriolet with a single engine option, the 1.8-liter TFSI turbo petrol mill, which already does its duty under the hood of sedan version. The engine churns out max power of 177 bhp and a peak torque of 280 Nm. The car sprints 0-100km/h in 7.8 seconds and has a top speed of 242 km/h.
