Honda inaugarates its new Tapukara plant, Amaze to roll out first

Honda's new manufacturing unit, Tapukara plant, based in Rajasthan has been inaugurated today. After the Noida facility, this is Honda's second manufacturing plant opened in India; intended to serve the rising demand for Honda cars in the market. Year 2013 witnessed company's unprecedented growth with two of its most significant cars- Honda Amaze and City. Honda Amaze is the first vehicle to be rolled out from this facility. Also the Japanese automaker are high on expanding their business in India by introducing new products and innovative technologies that would just fit in perfect for the Indian customers.

With Amaze and City returning such huge response from the market, it turned out to be a challenge for the company to deliver vehicles on time to customers. So, with the Tapukara facility being operational, the company will certainly be able to bridge the observed gap between demand and supply. Initially, this plant will return an output of 60,000 units, while the overall capacity of plant is 1,20,000 per year in two shifts. The plant is spread over in 450 acres of area and the total investment by the company costs Rs. 3526 crore. In terms of generating employability, the plant will provide opportunity to approximately 3200 people. The plant is an integrated manufacturing unit, where all functions like, forging, press shop, powertrain shop, weld shop, paint shop, plastic moulding, engine assembly, frame assembly and engine testing facility, will be carried out.

The HCIL's car manufacturing plant got inaugurated in the warm presence of, Chief Guest, Ms. Vasundhara Raje, Hon'ble Cheif Minister, Government of Rajasthan and Guest of Honour, Mr. Takeshi Yagi, Ambassador of Japan to India. Commenting on the occasion Mr Yoshiyuki Matsumoto, Managing Officer, Honda Motor Co. Ltd, Japan and representative of Development, Purchasing in Asia & Oceania region said, “ India is an important market for Honda and with the beginning of car production at Tapukara plant, we are advancing our commitment to expand Honda's business in India. We are thankful to the Government of Rajasthan for extending all the support to participate in the industrialization of the state. Though our products and operations, our goal is to make Honda a company that society wants to exist.”

Mr Hironori Kanayama, President & CEO, Honda Cars India Ltd said, “ The beginning of car production from our 2nd plant is a significant milestone for HCIL. With overwhelming response to our current models like Honda Amaze & all-new City and promising future line-up, we are ready to cater to the strong demand for Honda cars from our customers in India.”
