Four facelifts after the first Toyota Innova arrived in 2005, India will be receiving the next-generation of the immensely popular vehicle -- with a suffix, Crysta -- on May 2. As expected, Indian MPV lovers are ecstatic since the car looks stunning for an MPV, and comes loaded with features.
In India, the Innova Crysta will enter a segment that was occupied exclusively by its predecessor. Priced below it are premium sedans and above it are SUVs. So, for all practical purposes, the Crysta will compete only with the Toyota Innova. Later, it will be joined by the Hexa, Tata Motors’ seven-seater crossover.
The highlight of the new Innova is still the massive 2.8-litre diesel engine which is capable of producing 174PS of peak power. This is a lot more power than what the Endeavour’s base variants produce. It is longer, wider and taller than the outgoing model, which means more space inside the car. When it comes to features, the car puts most premium sedans to shame. The fit and finish is on par with the sophistication we find in premium SUVs. So, with all this in one package, how should the Innova Crysta be priced? Let's find out.
The introductory price of the Innova Crysta is likely to be between the INR 13.9 and 14.1 lakhs. This car is a lot more premium than the current-generation Innova, which will be evident in the price. The top-end 2.8-litre variant is expected to touch the INR 20 lakhs mark, which will showcase the full glory of the MPV. Do stay tuned for a complete road test of the car. Till then, have a look at the Innova Crysta, showcased at the Auto Expo.
