Maserati Levante, the Italian carmaker’s latest adventure in the SUV space is being showcased at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Reports from the auto industry say that the company is mulling over introducing this SUV in India. The car is most likely to arrive in the country early next year. That is when Maserati will be ready with a RHD version of the SUV. In India, the SUV is expected to be priced around Rs. 1.3 crore.
The SUV, internationally, is available with a 3.0-litre V6 twin-turbo petrol engine with either 350hp or 430hp tune and a 3.0-litre V6 turbo diesel which produces 275hp. Initially, India is expected to get only the diesel mill, but with the norms regarding engine size and emissions getting stronger, the petrol variants might follow soon.
Speaking about the diesel, it makes the car travel from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds, and cranks a top speed of 230 km/h. The other two offerings, Levante S (430hp) and Levante (350hp) sprints from 0-100 kmph in 5.2 seconds and 6.0 seconds respectively, and are able to attain top speed of 264 and 251 kmph, in that order.
The car also features a Maserati Touch Control system which runs on a 8.4” high-resolution screen. It can, in addition to the touch system, be operated using the new rotary control in the central tunnel. For the driver’s assistance, the car has a wide range of sophisticated advanced driver assistance systems like adaptive cruise control with automatic start/stop function, forward collision warning, automatic brake assist system and lane departure warning. Other options include blind spot alert, surround view camera and a powerlift tailgate.
