New Mercedes-Benz GLA Edition 1 details out

We reported earlier that Mercedes-Benz will introduce an exclusive GLA Crossover Edition 1 variant, and now the company has officially revealed its specification and other details. Recently, the German luxury carmaker premiered the GLA crossover at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, and the vehicle received an overwhelming response from the customers. The crossover will be launched in the European nations in March 2014, and will also make its way to India by the next year. It is expected that GLA crossover will be showcased at the 2014 Indian Auto Expo.

The exterior of the GLA Edition 1 is based on the Urban line with simulated underguard and roof rails in chrome. It also gets bi-xenon headlamps, 19-inch AMG light-alloy wheels finished in high-gloss black, a black radiator grille louvre with chrome inserts, black-painted exterior mirrors, black waistline trim strips and dark-tinted glass starting from the B-pillars. It will be made available exclusively in the paint finishes cirrus white, orient brown metallic, mountain grey metallic and designo magno mountain grey.

The cabin is smartly fitted with the nut brown leather and alvorada fabric with striking moccasin stitching. It also features a 3-spoke multifunction sports steering wheel in leather, sports pedals in brushed stainless steel with runner studs, aluminium trim with trapezoidal grain, air vents with nozzle ring and cross element in silver chrome, black roof liner and special floor mats. The exclusive Edition 1 will also sports light and sight package including ambient lighting, automatic windscreen wipers, illuminated door sills plates and warning lights for driver and front passenger doors.

The GLA Crossover measures 4417mm x 1804mm x 1894mm (length x width x height), and is highly maneuverable around town. It is available with the new generation of 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive with fully variable torque distribution as an option. The petrol models- GLA 200 and GLA 250 gets 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre engines that develops 156bhp and 211bhp, respectively. The diesel crossover will get the 2.2-litre engine which is tuned to offer two power output- 136bhp and 170bhp.
