After a month of production halt of Honda City, the saloon now attracts a waiting period of 3 to 4 month on its top-end variants while to a surprise the base E and S models are readily available. The manufacturer stopped the production of City for a month long to shift the facility from Greater Noida plant to newly opened manufacturing plant in Tapukara Alwar. We enquired dealers across the country and the answer was same, 'Sir, Top Mein Teen Se Char Mahine Ka Waiting Hai'.

In the diesel model lineup, Honda Cars India offers E, S, SV, V, VX variants while petrol model lineup includes E, S, SV, V, CVT SV, VX, CVT VX. The base petrol starts with an ex-showroom price of  Rs 7,19,900 while the automatic CVT SV model is priced at Rs 9,41,000 and CVT VX at Rs 10,96,000. The efficient diesel model which delivers a fuel economy of 26kmpl is priced at Rs 8,37,900 for the base S model while the top of the line VX variant is priced at Rs 11,05,500. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom, Delhi.

In Delhi NCR region, there is 3 to 4 months of waiting period for CVT models while the mid and top variants attract a waiting period of 2 to 3 months. The only models available are E and S. The same can be said for the state of Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana. In Mumbai, the CVT model is in huge demand and from the fact that its quite far from Alwar, the waiting period soars to 5 to 6 months. Moreover, in Chennai and Hyderabad, City is available after a waiting of three months.

On the shifting of plant, Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Senior Vice President, Marketing and Sales Honda Cars India said, “The shift of City production to Tapukara will ensure better availability and timely deliveries of Honda City and the newly launched Mobilio. We have received an overwhelming response to both the City and the Mobilio, and it is necessary to maximize production at both the plants for the benefit of the customer,” commenting on the City's production shift to Tapukara.
