Ashok Leyland leads gainers in 'A' group

Ashok Leyland surged 5.39% to Rs 26.40 and topped the gainers in the BSE's 'A' group. The company's commercial vehicle sales reportedly jumped 53.36% to 7,878 units in November 2011 over November 2010. Domestic sales rose 66.72% to 6,477 units in November 2011 as against 3,885 units in the same month of the previous year. Exports increased 11.90% to 1,401 units last month from 1,252 units in the year-ago period.
Shriram Transport Finance Company vaulted 5.34% to Rs 570. The stock was second biggest gainer in 'A' group. The stock rose on higher volume of 66,000 shares as against an average daily volume of 21,000 shares in the past two weeks.
Aurobindo Pharma gained 4.38% to Rs 96.50 and was third biggest gainer in 'A' group.
Adani Power shot up 4.37% to Rs 76.45 and was fourth biggest gainer in 'A' group. Recent reports indicated that the company plans to increase its capacity to 5,500 megawatt from present 3,300 megawatt by March 2012. The stock rose on higher volume of 1.98 lakh shares as against an average daily volume of 1.01 lakh shares in the past two weeks.
Sun TV Network advanced 4.02% to Rs 292.35 and was fifth biggest gainer in 'A' group. The stock rose on higher volume of 4.26 lakh shares as against an average daily volume of 3.97 lakh shares in the past two weeks.
