Air passenger traffic rises 2.8% in Jan-May 2014
India's domestic air traffic increased to 267.22 lakh in Jan-May 2014 recording an increase of 2.8% over 260 lakh in Jan-May 2013. In May 2014, the domestic air passenger traffic stood at 60.22 lakh, rising 5.5% from 57.1 lakh in May 2013.IndiGo continued to be market leader accounting for 31.7% of the overall domestic air passenger traffic in May 2014. Jet Airways-JetLite combined cornered a share of 21%, followed by Air India at 18.6%, SpiceJet at 17.9% and GoAir at 9.8%.
Seat factor for IndiGo, GoAir, SpiceJet and JetLite was 82%, 81.8%, 81.3% and 80% respectively. Air India and Jet Airways recorded seat factor of 79.5% and 75.2%, respectively.
