Energy stocks spurt

Energy stocks were trading with gains, with the S&P BSE Energy index increasing 128.47 points or 3.2% at 4137.2 at 09:53 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Energy index, Reliance Industries Ltd (up 5.74%), Goa Carbon Ltd (up 4.98%), and Gujarat Gas Ltd (up 0.5%), were the top gainers.

On the other hand, Oil India Ltd (down 9.58%), Oil & Natural Gas Corpn Ltd (down 8.59%), and Hindustan Oil Exploration Company Ltd (down 7.66%) turned lower.

At 09:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 37.38 or 0.12% at 30674.09.

The Nifty 50 index was down 19 points or 0.21% at 8962.45.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 90.55 points or 0.86% at 10474.3.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 39.42 points or 1.07% at 3661.62.

On BSE,600 shares were trading in green, 877 were trading in red and 77 were unchanged.
