FMCG stocks edge higher

FMCG stocks were trading in green, with the S&P BSE FMCG Sector index increasing 32.27 points or 0.3% at 10817.61 at 09:53 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE FMCG Sector index, EID Parry (India) Ltd (up 7.46%), Gujarat Ambuja Exports Ltd (up 6.43%),Future Consumer Ltd (up 4.97%),Sanwaria Consumer Ltd (up 4.94%),Mcleod Russel India Ltd (up 4.82%), were the top gainers. Among the other gainers were Uttam Sugar Mills Ltd (up 4.79%), Bajaj Hindusthan Sugar Ltd (up 4.6%), G M Breweries Ltd (up 4.13%), Avadh Sugar & Energy Ltd (up 2.12%), and Dwarikesh Sugar Industries Ltd (up 1.86%).

On the other hand, Parag Milk Foods Ltd (down 5.96%), DFM Foods Ltd (down 5.58%), and Nath Bio-Genes (India) Ltd (down 4.97%) turned lower.

At 09:53 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 824.97 or 2.61% at 30823.03.

The Nifty 50 index was down 238.35 points or 2.57% at 9023.5.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was down 224.28 points or 2.06% at 10662.63.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was down 82.66 points or 2.17% at 3729.25.

On BSE,448 shares were trading in green, 1164 were trading in red and 66 were unchanged.
