Cumulative crude oil refinery output rises 4.9% to 92.421 mt in April-August 2015
India's crude oil refinery output increased 7.9% to 19.254 million tonnes (mt) in August 2015 over August 2014, maintaining healthy growth for fourth straight month. The output of public sector refineries rose 0.5% to 9.802 mt. The output of private refineries improved 5.2% to 8.019 mt, while that of public-private JV refiners more than trebled to 1.433 mt in August 2015.Among public refineries, the output of Indian Oil rose 3.1% to 4.42 mt, while the output of Mangalore Refineries moved up 11.3% to 1.226 mt in August 2015 over August 2014. The output of Numaligarh Refineries improved 3.3% to 0.257 mt, while that of Hindustan Petroleum moved up 8.4% to 1.464 mt. However, the output of Bharat Petroleum and Chennai Petroleum also declined 2.7% to 1.94 mt and 35.9% to 0.492 mt in August 2015.
Among private refiners, the output of Essar Oil increased 6.8% to 1.673 mt, while that of Reliance Petroleum also surged 4.8% to 6.346 mt in August 2015 over August 2014.
Among JV refineries, the output of Bharat Oman grew 22% to 0.574 mt, while the output of HPCL Mittal stood at 0.859 mt in August 2015 against nil in August 2014.
The cumulative refinery output increased 4.9% to 92.421 mt in April-August 2015. The output of public refineries increased 3.8% to 48.006 mt, while that of private refineries improved 1% to 37.90 mt. The refinery output of JV refineries surged 50.3% to 6.515 mt in August 2015 over August 2014. Among public refineries, the output of Indian Oil, Mangalore Refineries and Bharat Petroleum rose, while that of Hindustan Petroleum, Chennai Petroleum, and Numaligarh Refineries declined.
The overall capacity utilization was higher at 107.7% in August 2015 and 105.2% in April-August 2015 compared with 101.5% in August 2014 and 100.9% in April-August 2014.
