Indian Railways' Freight Loading Up By 4.18 Per Cent During Fiscal 2014-15

Indian Railways carried 1097.57 million tonnes of revenue earning freight traffic during the financial year 2014-15 i.e. from 1st April 2014 to 31st March 2015. The freight carried shows an increase of 44.02 million tonnes over the freight traffic of 1053.55 million tonnes actually carried during the corresponding period last year, registering an increase of 4.18 per cent.

During the month of March 2015, the revenue earning freight traffic carried by Indian Railways was 101.57 million tonnes. There is an increase of 1.08 million tonnes over the actual freight traffic of 100.49 million tonnes carried by the Indian Railways during the same month last year, showing an increase of 1.07 per cent.
