The Japan share market finished session marginally higher in choppy trade on Monday, 30 October 2017, with gains in suppliers to Apple Inc offset by selling in financials and caution ahead of major central bank meetings this week. The benchmark Nikkei 225 average climbed 3.22 points, or 0.01%, to 22,011.67, the highest closing level since July 5, 1996. But the Topix, including all first-section issues, closed down 0.21 point, or 0.01%, at 1,770.84. Rising issues outnumbered falling ones 1,076 to 863 in the TSE's first section, while 93 issues were unchanged. Volume rose to 2.371 billion shares from Friday's 1.991 billion shares.
