Nifty December 2016 futures trade at premium to spot price

The Nifty December 2016 futures traded at 8,152.40, a premium of 40.80 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 8111.60 in the cash market. The November 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8,099, a discount of 12.60 points compared with the Nifty's closing in the cash market. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment declined to Rs 4.55 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 5 lakh crore registered on Tuesday, 15 November 2016.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index gained 3.15 points or 0.04% to settle at 8,111.60, its highest closing level since 11 November 2016.

State Bank of India (SBI), Bajaj Finance, Yes Bank, ICICI Bank and Punjab National Bank (PNB) were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. SBI November 2016 futures traded at 277.45, at a discount compared with spot closing of 277.65. Bajaj Finance November 2016 futures traded at 888.90, at a discount compared with spot closing of 894.55. Yes Bank November 2016 futures traded at 1,178.55, at a premium compared with spot closing of 1,177.

ICICI Bank November 2016 futures traded at 267.50, at a premium over spot closing of 266.50. PNB November 2016 futures traded at 148.80, at a premium compared with spot closing of 148.40.

The November 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 24 November 2016. The December 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 29 December 2016.
