Tata Steel December 2016 futures trade at premium to spot price

Turnover on NSE's F&O segment drops

The Nifty December 2016 futures traded at 8593, a premium of 67.25 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 8525.75 in the cash market. The November 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8545, a premium of 19.25 points compared with the Nifty's closing in the cash market. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment declined to Rs 7.56 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 7.82 lakh crore registered yesterday, 9 November 2016.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index rose 93.75 points or 1.11% to settle at 8,525.75, its highest closing level since 8 November 2016.

State Bank of India (SBI), Punjab National Bank (PNB), Vedanta, ICICI Bank and Tata Steel were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. SBI November 2016 futures traded at 282.40, near spot closing of 281.35. PNB November 2016 futures traded at 159.75, near spot closing of 159.15 . Vedanta November 2016 futures traded at 229.40, at a slight discount compared wtih spot closing of 229.60.

ICICI Bank November 2016 futures traded at 294.25, at a premium over spot closing of 293.15. Tata Steel November 2016 futures traded at 438.05, at a premium over spot closing of 436.90.

The November 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 24 November 2016. The December 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 29 December 2016.
