Nifty September 2016 futures trade at premium to spot price

The September 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8957.70, premium of 39.75 points compared with Nifty's closing of 8917.95 in the cash market. The Nifty October 2016 futures traded at 8997, a premium of 79.05 points compared with the spot closing for the index.

Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment rose to Rs 4.25 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 3.27 lakh crore registered yesterday, 6 September 2016.

In the cash market, the Nifty fell 25.05 points or 0.28% to settle at 8,917.95, its lowest closing level since 2 September 2016.

Bhel, State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, Tata Motors and Punjab National Bank were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. Bhel September 2016 futures traded at 160.30, at a premium compared with spot closing of 159.90. State Bank of India September 2016 futures traded at 267.45, near spot closing of 267. ICICI Bank September 2016 futures traded at 279.25, at a premium compared with spot closing of 278.

Tata Motors September 2016 futures traded at 591.40, at a premium compared with spot closing of 589.25. Punjab National Bank September 2016 futures traded at 140.30, at a premium compared with spot closing of 139.80.

The September 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 29 September 2016. The October 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 27 October 2016.
