Turnover spurts
The September 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8816.10, at a decent premium of 41.45 points compared with Nifty's closing of 8774.65 in the cash market. The Nifty October 2016 futures traded at 8856, a substantial premium of 81.35 points compared with the spot closing for the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment rose to Rs 4.83 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 3.87 lakh crore registered yesterday, 31 August 2016.
In the cash market, the Nifty fell 11.55 points or 0.13% to settle at 8,774.65, its lowest closing level since 30 August 2016.
Reliance Industries, Bharti Airtel, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank, Reliance Communications and Idea Cellular were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. Reliance Industries September 2016 futures traded at 1035, at a premium compared to spot closing of 1028.05. Bharti Airtel September 2016 futures traded at 309.75, at a discount compared with spot closing of 310.15. Axis Bank September 2016 futures traded at 600.60, at a premium compared to spot closing of 597.50.
ICICI Bank September 2016 futures traded at 261.90, near spot closing of 261.10. Reliance Communications September 2016 futures traded at 49.15, near spot closing of 49. Idea Cellular September 2016 futures traded at 82.75, at a discount compared with spot closing of 83.25.
The September 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 29 September 2016. The October 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 27 October 2016.
