Turnover rises
The September 2016 futures on the Nifty 50 index traded at 8839.15, at a decent premium of 52.95 points compared with Nifty's closing of 8786.20 in the cash market. The Nifty October 2016 futures traded at 8879, a substantial premium of 92.80 points compared with the spot closing for the index. Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment rose to Rs 3.87 lakh crore from turnover of Rs 3.22 lakh crore registered yesterday, 30 August 2016.
In the cash market, the Nifty gained 41.85 points or 0.47% to settle at 8,786.20, its highest closing level since 13 April 2015.
Axis Bank, Yes Bank, Tata Motors, State Bank of India (SBI), DLF and L&T were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE. Axis Bank September 2016 futures traded at 598, near spot closing of 595.85. Yes Bank September 2016 futures traded at 1368, at a discount compared with spot closing of 1378.05. Tata Motors September 2016 futures traded at 541.70, near spot closing of 538.
SBI September 2016 futures traded at 253.30, near spot closing of 251.60. DLF September 2016 futures traded at 155.60, near spot closing of 154.60. L&T September 2016 futures traded at 1519, near spot closing of 1512.
The September 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 29 September 2016. The October 2016 F&O contracts are set to expire on 27 October 2016.
