Turnover spurts in NSE F&O segment

Nifty Futures trade at discount

The Nifty February 2020 futures were at 12,089.50, a discount of 12.95 points compared with the Nifty's closing of 12,090.25 in the cash market.

In the cash market, the Nifty 50 index surged 110.6 points or 0.94% to 12,090.25.

Turnover on the National Stock Exchange's futures & options (F&O) segment was Rs 19.60 lakh crore compared with Rs 16.47 lakh crore reported in the previous session.

The NSE's India VIX, a gauge of market's expectation of volatility over the near term, slipped 2.76% to 13.9825.

On the options front, the Nifty option chain for 27 February 2020 expiry showed maximum call open interest (OI) of 23.11 lakh contracts at the 12,500 strike price. Maximum put OI of 28.67 lakh contracts was seen at 12,000 strike price.

The option chain indicates that Nifty will hover between 12,000 and 12,500 in the February 2020 series.

SBI, Bharti Airtel and Tata Global Beverages were the top traded individual stock futures contracts in F&O segment of NSE for February expiry.

SBI February 2020 futures were at 312.45, compared with spot closing price of 311.00. Bharti Airtel February 2020 futures were at 536.80, compared with spot closing price of 536.50. Tata Global Beverages February 2020 futures were at 396.70, compared with spot closing price of 394.60.
