Volumes jump at Videocon Industries counter

Brigade Enterprises, Lloyd Electric & Engineering, Marico, and Sterling Holiday & Resorts (India) are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE today, 9 January 2015.

Videocon Industries clocked volume of 11.67 lakh shares by 13:30 IST on BSE, a 27.56-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 42,000 shares. The stock jumped 15.22% at Rs 183.55. Videocon Industries announced today, 9 January 2015, that Petroleo Brasileiro SA (Petrobras), the operator of the BM-SEAL-11 concession (the concession) has discovered new oil accumulation in Farfan area in the Sergipe Basin.

Brigade Enterprises notched up volume of 4.24 lakh shares, a 23.29-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 18,000 shares. The stock surged 8.83% at Rs 167.65.

Lloyd Electric & Engineering saw volume of 24.73 lakh shares, a 20-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1.24 lakh shares. The stock rose 4.85% at Rs 142.55.

Marico saw volume of 2.31 lakh shares, a 13.25-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 17,000 shares. The stock rose 0.57% at Rs 323.85.

Sterling Holiday & Resorts (India) saw volume of 16.08 lakh shares, a 12.57-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1.28 lakh shares. The stock jumped 4.19% at Rs 202.50. Union Minister of State for Tourism, Culture and Civil Aviation Dr Mahesh Sharma said on the occasion of Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2015, on Thursday, 8 January 2015, that India is poised to receive one percent of Global tourists in three years. Speaking at the Plenary session of the Pravasi Barati Diwas at Gandhinagar, Dr Sharma said, presently India receives about 7 million foreign tourists annually and the target is to get one per cent share of the global tourist arrivals which is around 110 crore in three years. The Minister said Tourism is one of the most important socio economic activities globally and it is very relevant for India's economy also. He said the Union Government has introduced Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) for 43 countries on 27th November, 2014. Government has announced two more schemes for development of tourism infrastructure titled 'National Mission on Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation (PRASAD) and also another Rs 500 crore have been provided for development of 5 Integrated Circuits, the minister added
