At least 100 railway stations will have Google-sponsored Wi-Fi connectivity in one year, Union minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu said here on Saturday.
"In one year we will start offering Google Wi-Fi connectivity at nearly 100 major railway stations to the people," Prabhu said while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the All India Saraswat Sammellan.
Google's CEO Sunder Pichai had announced his company's decision to provide free Wi-Fi connectivity at 400 Indian railway stations during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Google headquarters at Mountain View in California.
As part of the project 100 railway Stations will have Wi-Fi connectivity by the end of 2016.
"Along with Google Wi-Fi connectivity, we are trying to ensure a better customer experience for all our travellers who use the Indian Railways at other stations too," Prabhu, who was the chief Aguest at the event, said.
