11 killed in Bangladesh bus accident

At least 11 people were killed and 20 injured Friday when an iout-of-control bus ran over pedestrians and then fell into a roadside ditch in Bangladesh.

Police said the accident took place around 6.30 p.m. in Barishal district, bdnews24.com reported.

"The Dhaka-bound Hanif Paribahan bus hit some small vehicles and ran over several pedestrian and a roadside shop after the driver lost control. Then it fell into a ditch near the toll plaza of M.A. Jalil bridge," a police official said.

Five people were killed on the spot, said A.K.M. Ehsan Ullah, Barisal's police superintendent.

He said six of the injured died in the Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital.
