Security forces Tuesday killed a separatist guerrilla in an ongoing operation in Jammu and Kashmir, taking the number of guerrillas killed this month to 13, an official said.
The operation by the Chinar Corps that has been continuing in Kupwara district for the past few days led to a gun battle with the militant Tuesday morning, a defence ministry spokesman said.
The gunfight led to the death of the militant in Gurdaji near Kalaroos.
The body of the slain militant along with an AK-47 rifle and other items has been recovered. The militant's identity is being ascertained.
