Shia militias, who call themselves The Death Squads, announced on Monday the release of the 16 Turkish workers, who were abducted in eastern Baghdad in September.
The group did not reveal the place where they freed the hostages, whose release has not been yet confirmed by the Turkish and Iraqi authorities, EFE news reported.
In an online video, the armed group said the captives were released after the Turkish government responded to their demands, referring to the alleged pressure on Syrian rebels to lift the blockade imposed on the Shia population in the Syrian towns of Fuaa and Kefraya.
The 16 Turks were in good condition, as shown on the tape, and one of them even said in Arabic that they had been treated well.
The Death Squads militants had earlier claimed responsibility in a video for abducting a total of 18 workers, two were released in mid-September.
