At least 20 Islamic State (IS) fighters were killed in strikes mounted by the US-led international anti-terror coalition in a Syrian city, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights Friday said.
Coalition airstrikes targeted the IS positions in the predominantly Kurdish city of al-Hasakeh, Xinhua news agency reported citing SOHR.
One civilian was also killed in these airstrikes, the observatory said, adding that clashes also erupted between the Kurdish militants of the People's Protection Units (YPG) and the IS on the outskirts of the Tal Tamr town in al-Hasakeh.
The Syrian government forces also pounded IS positions in the southern countryside of al-Hasakeh, without any information on losses.
The US-led coalition has been hammering the IS positions in northern Syria since last September, as part of the international community's effort to put an end to the terrorist group.
