At least 25 Egyptian policemen were killed and three wounded Monday in an attack by militants targeting two buses in which they were traveling in Egypt's north Sinai.
The buses were carrying the policemen from their base in Rafah city to their homes for vacation, when the attack took place.
Xinhua quoted the official Egyptian news agency MENA as saying that the militants fired rocket-propelled grenades at the buses.
Military helicopters are transferring the wounded to hospital for treatment as security deployment was reinforced at main roads to arrest the suspects, Xinhua quoted an Egyptian security official as saying.
