32-year-old held for raping minor in Gurgaon

A 32-year-old man from Uttar Pradesh was arrested by Gurgaon police for raping a 7-year-old girl here, police said on Thursday.

The accused identified as Rakesh alias Tiger, a scrap dealer hailing from Bareilly's Kasganj, was living in Gurgaon's Basai enclave and abducted the girl on October 22.

"He abducted the minor from near her house in Basai enclave and sexually assaulted her after taking her to an isolated area of the colony."

According to police, the minor returned around 8 p.m and was admitted in civil hospital in critical condition. She was later referred to Delhi's Safdarjung hospital as her condition deteriorated.

"The victim on Tuesday identified the crime spot after she was discharged from hospital. The accused has been arrested and was sent to jail under judicial custody," a senior police officer said.
