Dubai, May 11 (IANS/WAM) The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in the UAE has spotted 50 accident-prone locations in Dubai.
Maitha bin Udai, CEO of the RTA's Traffic and Roads Agency, said that of the 50 spots, 22 were redressed and work was up and running in 23 locations while five locations are being re-designed.
Traffic safety measures carried out in 110 sites have contributed to reducing mortality rates of run-over accidents by 36 percent, from 78 deaths in 2009 to 50 in 2012, the official said.
During the same period, deaths due to speeding accidents and due to red signal jumping also fell.
