At least 56 people were killed in a traffic accident in South Sudan Monday when a minibus collided with a truck on a road linking South Sudan with Uganda, according to a medial source in Juba Hospital.
"The victims could be more, but (the number of) those who were brought to the hospital is 56," Xinhua quoted a source as saying on condition of anonymity.
Traffic has been heavy along roads linking South Sudan with its neighbouring countries since last September, when violence erupted between government troops and fighters loyal to former South Sudanese vice-president Riek Machar.
The conflict in the newly-born country together with the deteriorating humanitarian conditions have forced hundreds of thousands of Southern Sudanese to flee to Ethiopia, Kenya, Sudan and Uganda.
