A total of 700 power connections, under the UP government's new "Power to All" scheme, were sanctioned in a single day at a mega camp here on Sunday, an official said.
Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd's Superintending Engineer B.M. Sharma said that in the city, 59 connections were given to poor families without any charge, 379 to normal users and 15 in the cluster category in which three families could get a pole and wire free if they are 40 metres away from the existing power lines.
In the trans-Hindon circle, 27 connections were given to poor families and 220 to others, he added.
