Led by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the Madhya Pradesh cabinet on Tuesday sailed down the Narmada river near Hanuvantiya island here to discuss the development of tourism in the state.
Holding a cabinet meeting aboard 'Narmada Queen Cruise', Chouhan and his colleagues decided to continue with the progressive development of Hanuvantiya island, which is located in the reservoir of Indira Sagar Dam on the Narmada river, as a world class tourist destination.
Having already held a 'Krishi cabinet', the state government would now also have a dedicated tourism cabinet, the chief minister said.
Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation (MPSTDC) has developed Hanuvantiya as a tourist complex and is organising a water-sports festival there from February 12 to 21.
The festival would feature adventure sports, cultural programmes and a food bazaar.
