Abu Dhabi, Oct 7 (IANS/WAM) The cultural programmes and heritage festivals committee, Abu Dhabi, is preparing for the seventh edition of the Al Dhafra festival in Al Gharbia Dec 14-28.
Al Gharbia is located in the western part of Abu Dhabi.
Mohammed Khalaf Al Mazrouei, advisor for culture and heritage to Abu Dhabi crown prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, said: "Al Dhafra Festival is not just a celebration that repeats itself. It is a solid bridge that memory uses to cross from past to present inspired by our shining heritage and thriving present."
"The seventh edition carries a lot of fun and benefit for the lovers of Bedouin life, others who are interested in the revival of the Arab civil heritage and those who desire to explore this heritage and its manifestations in the Emirati future vision," he said.
"This year, we have worked hard to offer a more truthful image and more beautiful performances. And this is what our public will be enjoying with the beginning of the festival's new edition Dec 14," Al Mazrouei added.
He said the festival, which had turned into a mega regional and international event within a short period, was inspired in its form and content by the authentic Bedouin spirit.
"Al Dhafra includes 12 events, namely Al Dhafra Camel Mazayna, the mahaleb competition, the heritage camel race, the camel auction, the falcon competitions, the Arab Heritage Saluki Race, the photography contest, the classic cars competition, the handicrafts competition in addition to the Dates' Mazayna, the traditional Market and the Children's Village," said Al Mazrouei.
