Delhi government's Anti Corruption Branch chief M.K. Meena on Tuesday warned Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of legal action if he did not withdraw the memorandum against the police officer for alleged negligence in performing his duty.

In a terse letter, Meena, whose appointment in the anti-graft wing by the central government has been contested by the Delhi government, told Kejriwal that he would not obey the chief minister since he was not the competent authority.

Earlier in a memorandum to Meena, Kejriwal had sought his explanation over allegations of being negligent in work and intimidating his juniors and threatened action.

Meena, in his letter, said the chief minister was "not the appropriate authority to institue disciplinary proceedings against the undersigned. Only the central government is the authority competent to institute disciplinary proceeding".

"Your good self not being the competent authority and without jurisdiction has issued memorandum which was illegal," he said, asking Kejriwal to withdraw the memorandum "immediately failing which he would be constrained to initiate appropriate action as per law".
