The AAP in Goa on Tuesday demanded that Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar take immediate action against his brother in-law, allegedly involved in a bribery case, or resign.

Over 200 Aam Aadmi Party supporters tried to gain entry to the State Secretariat here, but were prevented by the police.

An AAP delegation submitted a memorandum to Chief Secretary S.K. Srivastava's office, demanding immediate action against Parseakar's brother-in-law Dilip alias Ghanshyam Malvankar.

A Goa Industrial Development Corporation field officer, Dilip was allegedly caught red-handed in August last year while accepting Rs 1 lakh bribe for allotment of an industrial plot at Tuem village, 35 km from Panaji.

AAP spokesperson Rajashree Nagarsekar told the media that the memorandum was signed by over 20,000 people from across 40 assembly constituencies in the state.

"We demanded that Parsekar should resign or take immediate action against Dalip. By reinstating him, the Goa government is encouraging corruption. There are other officers who remain suspended for long time. Preferential treatment has been given to the Chief Minister's brother-in-law," Nagarsekar said.

Parsekar, who also holds the home portfolio, has said Dalip's reinstatement is as per the rules and denied any preferential treatment to him.
