Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J.Jayalalithaa Tuesday announced protests by cadres of her AIADMK will be held at Karaikal Thursday to condemn inaction of the central and Puducherry governments in securing release of local fishermen and their boats from Sri Lanka.
In a statement here, Jayalalithaa, also the AIADMK chief, demanded necessary action by the central and the union territory government to get the fishermen and their boats released from Sri Lanka jails.
She said 16 fishermen from Karaikal are languishing in Sri Lankan jails for more than 50 days and Sri Lanka has detained 13 Indian fishing boats even after the fishermen sailing in the boats were released.
