The union health ministry has appointed Manoj Jhalani, the ministry's joint secretary, as the chief vigilance officer (CVO) of AIIMS for a period of three months.
Jhalani, who is also the CVO of the health ministry, has been appointed the CVO of All India Institute of Medical Sciences after the completion of the tenure of Vishwas Mehta, a 1986 batch IAS officer of the Kerala cadre, last month.
Jhalani's tenure ends Feb 13.
"It has been decided to assign the charge of CVO AIIMS, New Delhi to joint secretary and CVO, ministry of health and family welfare for another three months with effect from 13.11.2014 or till regular order, whichever is earlier," said a letter from the health ministry.
Mehta was given the charge of CVO AIIMS after the removal of Sanjeev Chaturvedi, a 2002 batch Haryana cadre forest service officer, much before the completion of his tenure which was till 2016.
