The England Cricket Board (ECB) on Sunday announced that seamer Craig Overton has been ruled out of the Boxing Day Test against Australia with a fractured rib.
The 23-year-old sustained the injury in the third Test at the WACA in Perth after being struck in his ribs during the second match at Adelaide.
Australia pacer Mitchell Starc -- who is the leading wicket-taker in the series -- has also been ruled out of the upcoming Test with a heel injury. He will be replaced by Jackson Bird who plays first-class cricket for Tasmania.
England have already lost the Ashes 0-3 to Australia. The fourth Test will begin on December 26 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
