Ashley Cole extends one-year contract with Chelsea

The contract extension ends weeks of speculation that linked Cole with several European giants including Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, reports Xinhua.

"I am pleased I will be starting my eighth season at Chelsea," said the 32-year-old England international on the club website Tuesday.

"I wanted to stay at Chelsea because we are always fighting and challenging for trophies. That desire and the will to want to win things have not gone."

Cole joined Chelsea from their city rivals Arsenal in 2006.
