Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi Thursday said that he will ask for a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into Wednesday's attack in Sonitpur district, in which 10 people were killed by a group of assailants from neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh.
Gogoi called up his Arunachal Pradesh counterpart Nabam Tuki over the issue Thursday.
Tuki promised his full cooperation to bring the culprits to book and assured Gogoi that the incident will not affect the cordial relations between the two states.
Eight others were also injured at Chauldhowa in Behali reserve forest in Sonitpur when the attackers opened indiscriminate firing.
Security has been beefed up in the area and the government has sent a contingent of the Assam Police, the Central Reserve Police Force and Assam Rifles to the area.
