SV Werder Bremen defender Sebastian Proedl leaves the "Werderaner" at the end of the season, the German Bundesliga club has announced in an official statement.
After wearing the jersey of the "Green-Whites" for seven years, Proedl on Tuesday decided not to extend his expiring contract and to close the chapter at the end of the season, reports Xinhua.
"I had a fantastic time in Bremen and I owe the club a lot but for the next season I would like to meet a new challenge," the 27-year-old center back said.
Proedl joined Bremen from Austrian side Sturm Graz in 2008 to provide 10 goals and six assists in 147 Bundesliga appearances overall.
Bremen sit on the eighth place of the Bundesliga standings. They face third-placed Borussia Monchengladbach at the 33rd round on Saturday.
