Bangladesh issues arrest warrant for 22 opposition members

A court in Bangladesh's capital Dhaka on Sunday issued arrest warrants for 22 opposition men, including several leaders, for indulging in subversive activities in the national capital in February last year.

Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah of Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court issued the warrant against Barkatullah Bulu, vice-chairman of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), and 21 others after accepting the charges levelled against 30 opposition leaders and activists in the case.

The court fixed January 22, next year, as the next date of hearing in the case.

According to the case statement, the accused threw petrol bombs at a vehicle in Dhaka on February 2 last year during a demonstration against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's government.
