FC Barcelona confirmed the sale of winger Adama Traore to English side Aston Villa on Friday in a deal thought to be worth around 10 million euros (around 11 million US dollars) on Friday.
Traore expressed his satisfaction at the move to the Birmingham based side, saying it was "an honor for me to come here to a club that showed interest in signing me and has made me feel important for their plans, reports Xinhua.
The 19-year-old last season made a handful of appearances for the Barcelona first team, but has spent the majority of his time with the Barcelona B-team, making a total of 63 appearances, and scoring 3 goals in 37 games last season.
Unfortunately for Barcelona his performances were not enough to save the B-team from relegation to Spain's third tier (Segunda B) at the end of the campaign and that has presented a problem for club as it is pointless players such as Traore dropping down a division to continue their development.
With no places available in the first team squad, Barcelona have been obliged to seek either loan deal, or in this case, to sell a promising young player, although Barcelona have inserted a buy-back clause in Traore's deal, meaning they have the option to bring him back to the Camp Nou stadium during the next three years.
