Bhutan Airline is set to expand its operation in India with introducing more flights from the city and seasonal scheduled flights to Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad in 2018, its CEO Phala Dorji said on Wednesday.

"We will be introducing two Paro-Kolkata-Paro (point to point) flights from March 15 to May 15 and September 15 to November 30. During the same period, we will operate two direct flights per week from Paro to Bangkok and operate five flights per week from Paro to Bangkok via Kolkata.

"We will also be operating seasonal schedule flights to Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Chennai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad in 2018 during the said periods," Dorji told reporters here.

Bhutan's first private airline operates with two A319 aircrafts with a seating capacity of 122 passengers each.

It has daily flights from Bangkok to Paro via Kolkata and five flights a week to Delhi via Kathmandu.

"In September this year, we signed a four year aircraft lease with AerCap, a global leader in aircraft leasing and aviation finance for two Airbus 319. These two Airbus 319 - both sister ships and 2010 vintage, are expected to replace our existing fleet by June and July 2018," he said.
