The BJP Thursday welcomed the decision of Allahbad High Court to ban caste-based rallies in Uttar Pradesh, stating that the party does not mobilize people in the name of caste.
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesman Prakash Javedakar said the party does not appeal to voters in the name of caste and creed.
"We do not hold caste rallies. We consider the whole country as one. We welcome the decision," Javadekar told reporters here in response to a query about the court decision.
He said the party will study the judgment.
The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court Thursday banned caste-based rallies in Uttar Pradesh with immediate effect.
