The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday welcomed the implementation of the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme, calling it a historic decision.

The party said that the Narendra Modi government had honoured the soldiers of the country.

"We welcome the decision. It is a historic decision," BJP general secretary Anil Jain said here.

"The Congress had deceived the ex-servicemen on OROP for decades. It was Modi government which honoured them by implementing the scheme," he said, adding: "Earlier governments had made the OROP scheme complicated."

Meanwhile, BJP workers have decided to march towards India Gate here to celebrate the decision.
