Three handmade bombs exploded Saturday near former Bangladesh prime minister Khaleda Zia's office here despite a police presence there, reports said.

The blasts took place around 9.15 p.m. (local time) within 150 yards of the office, where the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) chief has been living since Jan 3, bdnews24.com reported.

About 50 police personnel have been posted around the office, which was experiencing a power cut since the early Saturday.
