Brazil striker Fred is set to return from injury for Fluminense's Copa Libertadores round of 16 second leg against Emelec Thursday.
The 29-year-old has not played since straining his right calf during his team's 2-0 victory over Resende in the Campeonato Carioca April 6, reports Xinhua.
Fluminense coach Abel Braga said Tuesday that the former Lyon frontman was ready to play 90 minutes at the Sao Januario stadium in Rio.
"Fred will play and his return represents a big gain for us," Braga said.
"He is our reference in attack and we are used to having him there. He is a predator near goal and makes us stronger."
Fluminense lost the first match in the Ecuadorian city of Guayaquil 1-2, meaning a 1-0 victory would be enough to advance to the quarterfinals.
