The judicial custody of BSP MP Dhananjay Singh and his doctor-wife, whose maid allegedly died of torture, was Thursday extended until Dec 16, informed sources said.
A magistrate passed the order at the Tihar Central Jail as the court hearing the case was told that the two could not be presented before it as police officers who escort them from jail were busy with election work.
Dhananjay Singh, who represents Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh in the Lok Sabha, was arrested on charges of destroying evidence and violating the Juvenile Justice Act.
His wife Jagriti was booked for murder, attempt to murder and for violating the juvenile act after their maid died of injuries suffered as a result of alleged torture.
