The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the signing of a agreement with National Research Agency of France (Agence Nationale de la Recherche) for supporting the Belmont Forum Secretariat from January 2015 to December 2017 at a total estimated expenditure of euro 40,000, a cabinet communique said.
The Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, also approved continued financial support to the Secretariat beyond 2017.
The Belmont Forum, created in 2009, is a high-level group of the world's major and emerging funders of global environmental change research and international science councils. India is a member.
